The Department was established vide Office of the Head of Service Circular NO. HCSF/CMO/EM/243/17 of 11th March, 2014. 

Vision

   The Vision of the General Services Department is to ensure an enhanced working environment that will promote optimal productivity in the staff.

 

 

Mission

Providing services to the Ministry and the staff in an efficient, cost effective and timely manner.

Structure

}  Staff Disposition:

}  The Department has total staff strength of 52 personnel as at August 2019, inclusive of 4 Directorate level officers.

          Responsibilities of the Department:

}  The responsibilities of the Department as codified in the (Establishment Circular with minor adaptation to accommodate some peculiarities of the Ministry are as follows:

}  Transport Administration;

}  Utility Services;

}  Stores Management;

}  Security;

}  Facility Management (Domestic/offshore)

}  Maintenance Services;

}  Office Allocation;

}  Plant and Equipment; and

}  (viii)  “Any other matter(s) assigned by the Permanent Secretary”.

          DIVISIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

}  GENERAL SERVICES DIVISION:

}  The Division is headed by a Deputy Director and assisted by an Assistant Director, Chief Stores Officer and Transport Officer etc. The responsibilities of the Division are:

}  Transport Administration;

}  Utility Services management;

}  Security management;

}  Store Management; and

}  Other duties as may be assigned by the Director (GS).

          MAINTENANCE DIVISION:

}  The Division is headed by a Deputy Director and assisted by a Chief Administrative officer, Resident Quantity Surveyor, Chief maintenance Officer and Office manager etc.

}  Responsibilities of the Division are:

}  Maintenance Services in general;

}  Plant and Equipment Management (Generator, Electrical Installations, etc.     

}  Facility Management (domestic and off-shore);

}  Office Allocation; and

}  Handling other duties as may be assigned by the Director (GS).

          OFFICE COMPLEX:

}  Departments of the Ministry are accommodated within the four blocks of the Building. The Hon. Minister’s office is located in Block H while that of the Hon Minister of State is in Block C.

}  SECURITY SERVICES:  

}  The Ministry has 21 Commissionaires manning different beats in the Four Blocks of the Ministry. Four Security Operatives of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defense Corps who used to man a few beats at headquarters were recalled to base in 2018. The other security personnel are the Aides to the HM, HMS and the Permanent secretary. While NEWARK Security outfit. earns a contract sum of

}  Stores Management

}  TRANSPORTATION ADMINISTRATION:

}  Transportation Administration entails the underlisted:

}  Providing a comprehensive list of vehicles in place for all the State offices and FCT;

Routine Servicing and Maintenance of the Generators/Plants and Equipment:

}   Cleaning Services:

Cleaning services for the 4Nos. Office Blocks of      the Ministry, including the external environment and the Eagle Garden are provided as follows.
