The Procurement Department of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) serves as the engine for implementing the Public Procurement Act, 2007. Public procurement in FMITI:

Mandates & Core Functions
The Procurement Department is mandated to drive budget implementation and ensure that all Ministry procurements comply with the Public Procurement Act, 2007. Its key functions include:
- Preparing and submitting annual procurement plans to the Tenders Board.
- Managing tender notifications, advertisements, and issuance of bidding documents.
- Receiving, recording, and supervising the opening of bids.
- Preparing evaluation reports for the Tenders Board and facilitating small-value procurements.
- Coordinating contract negotiations, documentation, and signing with contractors and suppliers.
- Submitting procurement documents to the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) for approval.
- Handling procurement-related complaints and dispute resolutions.
- Collecting and maintaining procurement data while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements.
